How I get a tone of Guest Post Backlinks by sending a Trojan Horse

When I first started reaching out to German blogs asking for guest posting, I quickly recognized that Germans rather pay for content than link to your website.

While SEO Experts like Neil Patel and Brian Dean from Backlinko linking to each others website to grow together, Germans are selfish and fear that somebody steal a potential customer.

So you have to do something extraordinary, to get Backlinks from German Domains with high trust and Domain Authority.

While doing research on building backlinks, I heard from Trojan Horse Marketing. Maybe you don’t know exactly what a Trojan Horse is, so I will tell you the story about it.

A mythical Greek Story says, that Greeks used a huge wooden horse to sneak in Troy and to win the Trojan war. For the Trojans it looks like a gift, but inside thousands of Greek soldiers waited to snuck out of it at night. They opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army and destroy the City of Troy.

Please don’t get me wrong. I don’t break into houses of Website owners by hiding myself in packages.

I do as follows.

Reaching out to Backlink sources by short videos

Everybody sends cold emails. Everybody is reaching out to LinkedIn users with always the same shitty messages. Chances are low and users are annoyed as fuck.

Sending helpful tips and individual pieces of content to prospectives allows you easily get in touch with them.

This is the way I build and send my Trojan Horse to desirable customers.

1. Making a list

First I’m doing research to find websites relevant to the topic my website is about. As an SEO, my favorite Tool for this is Ahrefs.

I’m using Google Sheets to collect Domains, Domain Scores, E-Mails, Contact Persons and further helpful information about the prospectives.

2. Preparing myself for Video Outreach

Maybe that’s bullshit for you but I do feel better and talk more fluently when I’m dressed well and styled my hair. No matter what you think about this, for recipients it definitely looks more professional when you look well-groomed.

3. Put a smile on your face

I promise you that the most relevant factor for your success are you. If people find you sympathetic, it will 10x the chance to get a feedback on your video. And thats better than no answer, even if the answer is negative.

4. Use the right tool

You can use your phone, laptop or a camera to record videos of yourself. Afterwards you can easily upload it on Youtube in private mode. Consequently, only users with the URL are allowed to see it.

I use Soapbox from Wistia. You just have to sign up to Wistia and add the Google Chrome Extension. With this tool you can make a video of yourself and record your screen simultaneously.

5. Record your pitch of 1–2 minutes

This is the most important step. Recognize that people get their first impression of you within the first seconds. So don’t forget to smile! Make clear that you have informed yourself about their website and what do you think, how your piece of content can help them to improve their User Experience.

Don’t build the Trojan Horse like the Greeks! Be honest and tell them, that you wanna set a link to your website. Don’t forget to explain why your content is useful for their users.

6. Choose a friendly thumbnail

With Soapbox you can easily choose a thumbnail or take a snapshot of yourself for this.

7. Send an interesting email with a catchy subject

Soapbox allows you to copy and paste the link in your email. Recipients see the thumbnail of you and your screen and recognize immediately that it’s a unique video just made for them.

I would recommend you to write something like this:

Hey [Name],
hope you and your team are doing fine in these hard times.

I thought it would be more personal to take a short video for you.

[insert video URL]

Please feel free to have a look inside.

I would really appreciate your feedback.

Best wishes,
Jonas

Results will impress you

Building backlinks is possibly the most difficult but also the most important part of SEO. This strategy allows me to build a tone of links for niche websites in short time and for free.
